Israel advocacy group urges UK to fully ban Hamas
Israel-Britain Alliance launches campaign with its chief executive saying it is 'déjà vu' for Britain not to ban the Gaza terror group after it stalled in outlawing Hezbollah
A leading Israel advocacy group has called on the Government to outlaw Hamas in its entirety, with a new campaign launched this week.
#BanHamas aims to question the UK government’s decision to ban the military wing of the Iranian-backed terror group in 2001, while allowing its political work to continue unfettered in the UK.
Launched by the Israel-Britain Alliance, its director, former MP Michael McCann said the situation was “déjà vu”, from when “the government argued that Hezbollah had separate military and political wings but had to concede that this was not the case in 2019.”
He said: “Peace will never be achieved between Israel and the Palestinians when Hamas denies Israel’s right to exist and actively seeks its destruction.
‘And while it is legitimate for politicians to explore all routes to a settlement the government has to accept that Hamas are not a legitimate partner for peace.”
