Israel claim first medal at World Athletic Championships
Hanna Knyazyeva-Minenko has won Israel’s first medal at the World Athletic Championships in Beijing, winning silver in the triple jump competition.
The Ukrainian-born 25-year-old became an Israeli citizen in 2013 and has now won a fourth major medal for her adapted country, the most recent one of which, was gold at the inaugural European Championships in Azerbaijan in June.
She claimed silver, jumping a distance of 14.78m, with the gold medal going to Columbian Caterine Ibarguen, who cleared 14.90m.
