The IDF has struck dozens of Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, after the terror group fired rockets and launched drones targeting northern Israel.

An IDF spokesperson confirmed that in the early hours of the morning, Hezbollah fired on northern Israel, and that in response, Israeli forces carried out a series of strikes against the terror group, including against senior terrorist operatives, command posts and infrastructure. The IDF subsequently issued Arabic evacuation notices for 53 villages in southern Lebanon.

Despite Hezbollah’s capabilities having been seriously depleted over the last 18 months, the IDF confirmed that it had prepared for the possibility of the Iranian regime proxy joining the current hostilities. Tens of thousands of reserve troops have been called up in Israel over the last few days, and the IDF carried out a series of strikes on Hezbollah targets last month in an attempt to further hinder its reconstruction efforts.

In a statement today, Hezbollah said it had launched drones and UAV’s as a response to the killing of the Iranian regime’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, an “in defence of Lebanon and its people”. In response, an IDF spokesperson said the group would pay “a heavy price”. It is understood that the IDF has targeted a senior member of the organisation this morning.

Hezbollah, which has been armed, trained and funded by the Ayatollah regime over the last few decades, was decimated in September 2024 after a series of precision strikes on its senior leadership, which saw the death of the group’s secretary-general, Hassan Nasrallah. An audacious operation that same month had seen thousands of communication devices belonging to Hezbollah operatives simultaneously explode, causing dozens of deaths and many hundreds of injuries. Locations believed to be stockpiles of the group’s rocket and missile arsenal were also attacked.

Hezbollah is currently led by Nasrallah’s former deputy, Naim Qassem. The Lebanese government has been unsuccessful in attempts to disarm the terror group since the comprehensive IDF strikes in 2024.

The chief of the IDF’s Northern Command, Major General Rafi Milo, confirmed that Israeli strikes against Hezbollah would continue and that their “intensity will increase”.
