Israel set to partially reopen beaches and swimming pools, report claims
Social distancing rules will remain in place and bathers will not be allowed to sit on the beach, the Jerusalem Post reported
Israel’s beaches and public swimming pools are set to partially reopen on Sunday for the first time since the lockdown was implemented, as the country moves towards relaxing restrictions, according to a local report.
The country is poised to reopen beaches to swimmers and surfers and allow some members of the public, including professional athletes, to access public swimming pools, the Jerusalem Post reported on Friday.
According to the newspaper, social distancing rules will remain in place and bathers will not be allowed to sit on the beach.
Israel has seen over 16,000 people tested positive for covid-19 and over 210 fatalities linked to the virus, according to the latest figures.
The country approved measures last week to ease the lockdown, including the reopening of some businesses, including some shops, hairdressers and beauty salons.
