Israeli airstrike kills militant behind recent rocket attacks
The Israeli military says its aircraft have killed a key militant in Gaza who was behind recent attacks on Israel.
Gaza ambulance services said two militants were killed in the airstrike.
The military said it targeted a “terrorist operative” in order “to eliminate an imminent threat to the lives of Israeli civilians”.
It said the man, Ahmad Zaanim, was behind several recent rocket attacks at southern Israel as well as shooting at soldiers and detonating explosives at soldiers on the border.
In Gaza, relatives and ambulance services identified him as commander in the PFLP. The other was identified as belonging to the Islamic Jihad group.
