Israeli-born donor slated to be new Tory treasurer
Art collector Ehud Sheleg tipped to take helm of the ruling party's finances following sizeable donations before last general election
The man slated to become the Conservative Party’s new treasurer is an Israeli-born art collector who owns a flash Mayfair gallery.
According to reports, Ehud Sheleg, known as Udi, is set to take the helm of the ruling party’s finances after giving the Tories £550,000 before last year’s general election.
The Times reported that while former Jewish Leadership Council chairman Sir Mick Davis is currently acting as both chief executive and treasurer, the role of the latter will be split between the two men.
Sheleg, 62, is director of the Halcyon Gallery on New Bond Street, which recently exhibited a collection of Bob Dylan’s artworks. He made his first registered donation in January last year, giving the rest in May, a month before the general election.
