Israeli jets to take part in joint exercise with RAF over UK skies
Fighter planes will join with the Royal Air Force for the first time in a drill over RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire
Israeli fighter jets and aircrew are to take part in a joint exercise with the RAF for the first time in the skies above RAF Coningsby, Lincolnshire.
Israel’s top guns will take part in the RAF’s Cobra Warrior exercise in September with their counterparts from Germany and Italy.
The Israeli Air Force holds its own biannual international exercise, Blue Flag, with the RAF due to take part in the next one in 2020.
While RAF aircraft – fighters, refuelling planes and transports – have overflown Israel on their way back from sorties in Iraq and Syria, it will be the first time they train in Israeli airspace.
In the 2018 exercise, at Uvda airbase in the Negev, US, German, Greek, Indian, Polish, Italian and French aircraft participated.
