Israel’s defence Minister will list Jewish group as a ‘terrorist organisation’
Israeli Defence Minister Moshe Ya’alon has said he will list a Jewish anti-assimilation group as a terrorist organisation after an integrated school in Jerusalem was firebombed last month.
It comes after three members of the group, called Lahava, appeared before a judge charged with setting the Max Rayne Hand in Hand School, which serves more than 600 Arab and Jewish pupils.
Hebrew graffiti was found daubed on the school walls, reading: “Kahane was right,” “you can’t coexist with cancer” and “death to Arabs.”
Since then over a dozen Lahava members have been rounded up, but Ya’alon move comes too late for former Justice Minister Tzipi Livni, who said it should have been done months ago.
“This organization works from hatred, racism and nationalism and its goal is to bring an escalation of violence within us,” she said.
