Jewish Agency chair praises Chelsea FC for spreading ‘message against hate’
Isaac Herzog spoke with Premier League stars in Boston this week ahead of a charity game against New England Revolution to raise awareness and money for anti-racism groups
The head of the Jewish Agency has praised Chelsea Football Club for extending its “message against hate” to millions around the world.
Isaac Herzog was speaking to footballers during the club’s visit to Boston this week for a charity game against New England Revolution, owned by Robert Kraft.
Both Kraft and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich are Jewish and both have committed in recent years to help use sport to tackle prejudice and discrimination, a gesture appreciated by Herzog.
“The fact that you are here will influence young people throughout the world, and the message you are bringing to millions of young fans through this charity match is a message against hate,” said the Jewish Agency chief.
“Unfortunately, there is evil in humanity and we must figure out how to forcefully eradicate this evil. This is what brave people do. You are a testament to this strength of character and set an example for people around the world. I thank you for that.”
