Jewish and Asian business leaders to address inaugural networking event

Confirmed speakers include BBC News Economics Editor Faisal Islam and business leaders Sir Lloyd Dorfman, Ron Kalifa, and Lord Bilimoria

Jewish and Asian business leaders are set to descend on Lord’s Cricket Ground for the inaugural meeting of a new initiative bringing together the two communities.

Organisers say the Asian-Jewish Business Network will bring together professionals from sectors including law, property and finance on 4 November for a full day of networking and to encourage trade.

Confirmed speakers include BBC News Economics Editor Faisal Islam and Sir Lloyd Dorfman, who founded foreign exchange business Travelex and chairs Doddle, a retail business which enables customers to collect or return their online shopping from train stations.

Cobra Beer’s chairman and founder Lord Bilimoria will be in conversation with entrepreneur Emma Sinclair, while fin-tech expert Ron Kalifa will be chatting on stage to Jewish News business editor Candice Krieger.

Sir Lloyd said he was “delighted” to be part of the event, adding: “Both the Asian and Jewish communities have a flair for business.

“At the present time, it’s really important to bring both communities together. We have so much in common in terms of our shared passion for family, community and education. I am looking forward to the event.”

Event organiser Russell Bahar said the day will be “filled with senior business leaders from a range of corporate industries all under one roof to network, share best practice and, ultimately, do and encourage more trade.”

The event is headline sponsored by foreign exchange company Currencies Direct and law firm Axiom Stone Solicitors, and media partnered by Jewish News and Asian Voice.

Naomi Feltham, business manager at Currencies Direct, said she was “incredibly excited about headlining this unique event” while Pragnesh Modhwasia, managing partner at Axiom Stone Solicitors, said he looked forward to “engaging with members of both communities.”

Jewish News Editor Justin Cohen said the event “promises to be a great way of harnessing and maximise the synergy between British Jews and Asians who make such a valuable contribution to our country’s economy”.

Asian Voice CEO L George added: “Two communities, coming together under one roof to network and forge partnerships, can only bode well for our common good.”
