Jewish author dubbed as ‘one to watch’ wins major national poetry prize
Former poet-in-residence of the Jewish Museum Aviva Dautch, scoops the Primers 2017 award
A Jewish poet described by the former poet laureate as “one to watch” in 2014 has won a major national poetry prize.
Aviva Dautch, a former poet-in-residence of the Jewish Museum in Camden, was named as one of the winners of the Primers Poetry Prize 2017 on Monday, giving credence to Sir Andrew Motion’s prediction.
Dautch, who won the International Jewish Women in the Arts Award from Brandeis University in 2016, teaches English Literature and Creative Writing at the British Library.
She is well-known as an educator in the Jewish world, where she regularly lectures on Jewish Arts and Culture. She will be presenting at Limmud Festival in Birmingham in December.
