Jewish Care raises over £8,000 at first online Business Breakfast

More than 100 online users helped raise more than £8,000 for Jewish Care’s core services at the first Business Breakfast fundraiser held online by the social care provider.
Donors heard from Ocado’s chief executive and co-founder, Tim Steiner, and the entrepreneur Robin Klein, in interviews led by Tortoise Media co-founder James Harding.
Steiner told of the challenges faced by the online supermarket brand amid a sudden surge in demand at the beginning of the lockdown. “We had staff who wanted work around the clock to ensure people were able to access food deliveries,” he told the event.
Lord Howard Leigh, chairman of Jewish Care’s Business Breakfast committee, said the event was the care provider’s “94th breakfast but our first digital breakfast.”
“This morning was a tremendous opportunity to support Jewish Care at a time when we need it the most,” he said. “Thank you to our panellists, Tim Steiner and Robin Klein for giving us an insight into the impact on business during and after lockdown and thank you to James Harding for facilitating the conversation and helping us to raise much needed funds.”
Jewish Care director of fundraising and community engagement Adam Overlander-Kaye hailed members of staff for “working around the clock to provide the level of care that our community deserve and expect of us.”
“We are hugely appreciative of the donations received today, which will make a huge difference to the support that our care homes and services need during this time,” he said.
