Jewish Care resident, 99, speaks to son via video link on Mother’s Day
Anne was able to talk online with her son Mike, 74, after the charity helped its service users keep in touch with loved ones amid the virus outbreak
A 99-year-old Jewish Care home resident spoke with her son on Mother’s Day thanks to a video call set up the charity.
Despite coronavirus restrictions, Anne connected with her son Mike (surnames withheld), 74, after the home helped its residents to stay in touch with loved ones through FaceTime and Skype.
This comes after Jewish Care announced it had “suspended all visits to our care homes” due to the virus outbreak.
During the clip Mike says he’s asked people to write to her, explaining that relatives delivering food to her are not allowed to enter the home.
Anne says those looking after her are “angels”, which Mike replies: “They’re all angels and we owe them a huge, huge debt for looking after you”.
Jewish Care said on Facebook: “We are indebted to our staff who are working around the clock to care for the Jewish community and keeping our residents connected with their families.”
It’s Mother’s Day and although relatives are not currently able to visit their loved ones in Jewish Care homes, it wont stop them being in touch. We are indebted to our staff who are working around the clock to care for the Jewish community and keeping our residents connected with their families.
