Jewish events company vows to rebuild after devastating warehouse fire
Firm says it has been overwhelmed by community support after blaze destroyed £3 million of equipment
A Jewish-owned events company that has helped stage countless simchahs across the UK has vowed to rebuild after a major fire destroyed its warehouse and millions of pounds worth of equipment.
SVS Productions, a familiar name at weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, concerts and communal events across the UK Jewish community, said it had been overwhelmed by messages of support following Thursday night’s blaze.
The company has worked on a wide range of Jewish events and public celebrations, including the installation of staging for Chabad’s giant Chanukah menorah in Golders Green.
In a statement shared on social media, the company said: “Last night, a fire broke out at our warehouse and, as a result, it has been completely destroyed. Investigations into the cause of the incident are still ongoing.
“We would like to thank emergency services for their rapid response and tireless efforts.
“We have been overwhelmed by the warm messages and support we have received. Your encouragement has meant a great deal to us during this challenging time.
“Thank you for standing with us. We are committed to rebuilding and look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.”
The fire broke out at the company’s premises in Brent shortly after 9pm on Thursday, prompting a major response from the London Fire Brigade.
Around 150 firefighters and 25 fire engines were deployed to tackle the blaze, which engulfed much of a two-storey warehouse building.
According to SVS Productions, the fire destroyed an estimated £3 million worth of equipment, including sound and lighting systems, staging, LED screens, live-streaming technology, furniture and special-effects gear.
The London Fire Brigade said around 70 residents from a neighbouring block of flats were evacuated as a precaution while crews worked to bring the fire under control.
There were no reports of injuries.
In a statement, the brigade said: “The fire was located on a business park, and involved a multi-use warehouse building consisting of two floors. At the fire’s height, the majority of the structure and its roof was alight.”
The Metropolitan Police and London Fire Brigade have both said the incident is not currently being treated as suspicious.
The fire comes just weeks after a major blaze at Kosher Kingdom, Europe’s largest kosher supermarket in Golders Green. More than 100 firefighters were called to that incident, which is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
