Jewish football team in isolation after player tests positive for coronavirus
An MGBSFL side took measures after father of a player discovered he was carrying the infection
Members of a Jewish football team and its manager have placed themselves in self-isolation after one of their players tested positive for the coronavirus.
The club, which has requested anonymity, plays in the Premier division of the Maccabi GB Southern Football League (MGBSFL).
It took the measures after the father of a player discovered he was carrying the virus which has so-far claimed four British lives.
“Once we knew the risk, many of the members went into self-quarantine,” the manager, who also asked not to be named, told Jewish News.
The club’s immediate fixture was postponed.
The side is comprised of more than 20 players.
The manager says the team is in “constant communication on WhatsApp”.
