Jewish fraternity across UK looks to build on busy year
The UK branches of an International Jewish fraternity are looking to build on a busy year of networking and raising money for charity.
Alpha Epsilon Pi (AEPi), a Jewish Fraternity spread across 10 universities in the UK, focuses on philanthropic efforts, Jewish identity and developing leadership.
It has raised over £10,000 for charity in the UK since it was founded five years ago by Marc Cowan and Elliot Miskin, with its membership continuing to grow with over 300 members, at top universities including Oxford, Manchester, Birmingham and St Andrews.
Following their fourth annual conclave, which took place in November in Oxford, the organisation will be sending numerous members to their next International Convention in Florida later in 2016.
Hosted by the Chabad of Oxford’s Jewish Student Centre, over 200 people came together from the UK, Israel, France & Austria. The event saw participants have a Shabbat dinner, engage in seminars to learn about philanthropy & leadership. As well as a career panel which offered opportunities for jobs, mentorships and networking with some of their most successful alumni, including a member from the popular TV show “The Apprentice”
Sam Koch who spoke at the career panel and met his business partner through AEPi said: “Conclave allows students to meet Alumni in every career path, from Investment banking to successfully running a Start-Up.”
The International fraternity, which boasts Mark Zuckerberg amongst its alumni, is spread across seven countries, and has nearly 200 groups across universities globally, with over 100,000 alumni.
Ahead of the next International Annual Convention, which will be held Florida. The founder of AEPi England and Logistics Director for the UK Conclaves Marc Cowan, said: “The amount of people who have gained full time jobs, advice, knowledge and become more involved in Jewish life is phenomenal under AEPi UK. It has become one of the most influential organisations across the UK impacting many lives.”
