Jewish primary can use London bus for its school library
Sinai School will have the bus in its school playground after engineers from Metroline complete the refit
A Jewish primary school in London has heard that it can use an end-of-service London bus for its school library.
Children at Sinai School will be able to access the library bus, which will be based in the playground, after engineers from bus operator Metroline complete the refit.
Headteacher Juliette Lipshaw together with Foundation Governor Deborah Azagury-Slattery said the new library bus would “put reading at the heart of the school and promote and foster a love of books,” with the children able to learn library skills, practice story making, listen to stories and share books as well.
“This is an amazing opportunity for our school, to encourage the children to read in an age where they have become so dependent on technology,” said Lipshaw.
“I want the children to revitalise their enthusiasm for reading real books. We hope that this will help to maintain our excellent reading levels in the school and give the children a rich variety of genre in their reading.”
The school has now put a call out for any painters, decorators, electricians, interior designers or story-tellers to help them create “an innovative educational space for the children” in time for the summer.
