Jewish Voice for Labour suggests video of antisemitic convoy 'may be fake'

Left-wing group questioned whether the clip was real, claiming it may have 'produced to damage the Palestine solidarity movement'

Jewish Voice for Labour has questioned the veracity of video clips showing antisemitic and misogynistic abuse blarring from a convoy of cars in north London.

The footage went viral after being filmed in the Finchley Road area and was roundly condemned by politicians across the political spectrum, including Boris Johnson and Sir Keir Starmer. In it, protesters in cars draped with the Palestinian flag blasted their horns and screamed “F*** the Jews, rape their daughters.” Four arrests have since been made after CST helped track down the cars.

JVL, which repeatedly defended Jeremy Corbyn during his leadership of the Labour Party and even staged a counter-demonstration against the community’s Enough is Enough rally, initially took to Twitter to describe the abuse as “threatening to Jews and no help at all to Palestinians”.

But, in a comment that community figures said were “a new low”, the group’s account subsequently tweeted: “There is some suggestion this may be fake, produced to damage the Palestine solidarity movement. If so that is even more despicable than the behaviour shown. If it’s real our comment stands.”

Jeremy Corbyn, who was among the speakers at a massive anti-Israel demo in central London on Sunday, is yet to condemn the shocking scenes.
