JFS head takes leave of absence
The north London school has sought to reassure parents that it is “business as usual” after its headteacher took a leave of absence with immediate effect
JFS has sought to reassure parents that it is “business as usual” after its headteacher Jonathan Miller took a leave of absence with immediate effect and replacements were asked to “move the school forward”.
No reason for Miller’s extended absence was given in an email to parents, sent on Wednesday afternoon. Debby Lipkin is to act as a “consultant headteacher” while deputy head Simon Appleman will become Acting Head.
Governors said that Lipkin and Appleman would “move the school forward, prepare students for this summer’s examinations and, beyond that, plan for the next academic year”.
They added that Miller would be absent “for the next few weeks” and “will not be dealing with school matters”.
JFS, which is Europe’s largest Jewish school, hit the headlines last year after police were called in to control a student “riot” after which 300 were escorted off the premises.
