Jordan returns ambassador to Israel
Jordan is reinstating its ambassador to Israel after a three month absence.
Amman withdrew the envoy following an incident in which Israeli police stormed Temple Mount during a confrontation with Palestinian protesters.
Walid Obeidat, Jordanian ambassador to Israel, is set to return to Israel on Monday.
Israel’s Foreign Ministry praised the Jordanian government’s decision to return its ambassador to Israel, calling it “important for the bilateral relations between Israel and Jordan and regional stability.”
A week after Jordan recalled its ambassador, King Abdullah of Jordan, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry met in Amman to defuse tensions.
At the meeting, Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised King Abdullah to place restraints on visits by Knesset members and other prominent Israelis to Temple Mount.
