Kate Osamor expresses ‘solidarity’ with ousted Labour activist Marc Wadsworth
The former Labour frontbencher took a question from the controversial official at the Media Democracy Festival
An MP has expressed her “solidarity” with ousted Labour activist Marc Wadsworth, who was thrown out of the party in 2016, according to a news report.
Kate Osamor, 50, who stepped down from the Labour frontbench in December, told Wadsworth: “I send my solidarity to you because you have personally been through a very difficult time,” the Times reported yesterday.
Osamor took a question from Wadsworth in the audience about abuse suffered by MPs while she was speaking at the Media Democracy Festival in London.
Wadsworth later tweeted his appreciation, saying he was “heartened” by Kate Osamor’s comment.
He added: “She reinforced my point about unprecedented online and [mainstream media] abuse @HackneyAbbott has suffered, without a murmur from @UKLabour comrades one would have expected to give her support.”

Wadsworth was expelled from the party for bringing the party into disrepute, after he accused Ruth Smeeth of working “hand in hand” with the ring-wing media at the launch of a report into tackling antisemitism, reducing the Jewish MP to tears.
The Labour Party was approached for comment but did not immediately respond.
