Kosher retailers unite to warn against panic buying for Pesach
'Remain calm and do not overbuy, there is enough for everyone' said one shop owner, as the community looks to mark Passover under the shadow of coronavirus
Kosher retailers have united to reassure the community there is plenty of produce for everyone so long as there is no panic buying
At least six of the community’s leading proprietors called on shoppers not to stockpile amid the coronavirus crisis, warning it could mean some go without Passover necessities.
Speaking during a four minute clip, a representative of Global Kosher said it is “working around the clock to get sufficient stock”, while staff at B-Kosher in Hendon saying there is “enough for everyone, there’s no need to panic buy.”
A member of Hendon’s Tapuach staff appears in front of boxes of stock, saying “we’ve got plenty.. as you can see”, as he urged people to stay calm.
Meanwhile, Hadar in Edgware, called on customers to “please be responsible. Shop as much as you need, but do not stock up for next year. There is plenty for everyone as long as you are responsible.”
Kosher Kingdom called on shoppers to purchase food “sensibly”, adding it is limiting how many customers in the shop for safety reasons.
Elsewhere, Kosher Savers in Manchester sought to “reassure all customers that despite the difficult situation we are fully stocked to accommodate customers.”
“Remain calm and not overbuy. There is enough for everyone.”
Steins Food in London added, customers should “buy what you need but leave some for someone else”, saying there’s “plenty of food in the market.
