Labour councillor suspended over ‘Jew process’ joke has been reinstated

The Labour councillor in Liverpool suspended over a joke about “Jew process” has been reinstated, according to a report in the local press.
Councillor Jo Bird, who is a member of Jewish Voice for Labour, was suspended over offensive comments she made in a recording leaked to the Jewish Chronicle.
It is understood that her suspension from the Labour Party has been lifted, but exact details are still unclear, as first reported by the Liverpool Echo.
In the recording, Bird, who is Jewish, could be heard joking that “due process” should be renamed “Jew” and that that the Labour election slogan “For The Many Not The Few” should be changed to “Bad for the many – as well as bad for the Jews.”
She ended her speech by altering the first line in pastor Martin Niemöller’s Holocaust poem “First They Came For” to “Then they came for the anti-Zionists.”
She continued: “They came for the socialists, but they couldn’t get us because we were having a party, the Labour Party.”
