George Galloway claims he has applied to rejoin Labour, but the party denies ever receiving such an application.

Speaking to Sky News’s Niall Paterson, the former MP revealed he had applied to rejoin the party and said his expulsion had been “unjust”.

He said: “I have written to the Labour Party general secretary asking that my expulsion by Mr Blair over the Iraq War in 2003 should be rescinded.”

However, a Labour Party spokesperson later told Jewish News: “No such application has been received by the Party.”

In the interview, Galloway also described recent Labour defections over antisemitism as “pure Goebbelsian propaganda”, adding: “Repeat a lie often enough and some people might believe it.”

Comparing reporters to Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels, he added: “I believe you want people to believe that and the Goebbels is you and the Times and the other organs that are pumping out this foul slander against the Labour Party knowing that it is true.”
