Alexander S Bermange’s show I Wish My Life Were Like A Musical is up for a special award

This year, at Edinburgh Fringe, there were 3,352 shows and Radlett musician Alexander S Bermange’s show I Wish My Life Were Like A Musical has been voted one of the very best performances at the Festival.

Voting is now taking place to find the number one show and people have until 1 October to cast their vote for the performance that is to win the much coveted first place. The winner will be announced on 2 November.

“It’s incredibly exciting, and I am thrilled to have got this far,” says Alexander. “When one thinks how many shows there are at Edinburgh, it is amazing to be in the top three. Obviously I would love to be the winner.”

Alexander S Bermange’s show lifts the lid on what life is really like as a musical theatre performer. The show is full of wonderful songs, comedy and every changing scenarios.

“The first iteration of the show was in 2018,” says Alexander, who wrote the book, music and lyrics. “Since then, we have performed it at Edinburgh five times and each year the performance changes. We keep the favourite numbers but add new songs and update the story.”

I Wish My Life Were Like A Musical has won numerous awards and has toured all over the world. It has the distinction of being the most five-star reviewed show ever performed at the Fringe with 60 top reviews and each year plays to sell out audiences at every performance.

Alexander S Bermange is a full-time writer and musician who writes for both stage and audio including BBC Radio 4. He has written many successful musicals, including Spitting Image the Musical and six fairy tale shows staged in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, yet he does not have formal musical theatre training. Having studied French and German at Oxford University, and learned piano and viola at school, he decided to start writing musical shows. And his career has taken off since then with many successful performances and awards.
