Leaflet linking JLM to Israeli embassy reportedly handed out at Labour meeting
Two-page document accusing the Jewish Labour Movement of focusing 'only on antisemitism in Labour' supposedly distributed at Hampstead and Kilburn CLP
A leaflet questioning the Jewish Labour Movement’s links to the Israeli embassy in London was reported to have been handed out at a meeting of the Hampstead and Kilburn Constituency Labour Party last night.
Photos of the two-page document, titled ‘Critical Questions for the Jewish Labour Movement,’ were posted online by reporters. Among its charges is the seemingly self-evident observation that “JLM seems to focus only on antisemitism in the Labour Party”.
However it also contains more disturbing lines of questioning, in particular focusing on Israel. One section prompts readers to ask JLM about an undercover 2017 Al-Jazeera documentary called ‘The Lobby,’ specifically “what is the relationship between JLM and the Israeli embassy in London?”
Another suggests that “there is an increasing threat of war against Iran by the US, backed by Israel and Saudi Arabia… Would the JLM support the Corbyn-led anti-war Party or support this highly dangerous promotion of war?”
Phil Rosenberg, the public affairs director at the Board of Deputies and a former Labour councillor in West Hampstead, tweeted that the leaflet was “horrible” and “indicative of the problems I have described in Hampstead and Kilburn Labour”.
He added: “The individuals who produced this filth should be suspended with serious consideration given to suspending the whole CLP. That won’t happen because Labour is no longer an anti-racist party.”
The Hampstead and Kilburn Constituency Labour Party has been approached for comment.
