Little Women star Timothée Chalamet tipped to play Bob Dylan in biopic
Chalamet is said to be taking guitar lessons for the film 'Going Electric'
Little Women star Timothée Chalamet is tipped to portray music icon Bob Dylan in a new biopic about the Blowing In the Wind singer.
Variety reported on Monday the actor, whose mum is Jewish, is “in talks” to play Dylan in a film about the folk legend directed by James Mangold and entitled Going Electric.
Dylan, 78, who was raised in a Jewish family in Minnesota but later converted to Christianity, rose to fame in the 1960s and remained a major public figure since.
Chalamet, pronounced Chalamay, is reportedly taking guitar lessons for the forthcoming biopic, according to a report in Deadline.
The 24-year-old actor seen in Netflix’s historical drama The King is also starring in Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of the 1868 novel Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, out in cinemas in the UK.
Among several high-profile biopics made in previous years was Todd Haynes’ 2007 film I’m Not There, starring Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Marcus Carl Franklin, Richard Gere, Heath Ledger and Ben Whishaw – each one portraying a different aspect of the singer’s life and public persona.
