Young Rosh Pinah footballers triumphed on Wednesday 27 May as eighty Year Six students from eight Jewish schools took part in a tournament at Tottenham Hotspur training grounds in north London.

The event, in conjunction with Maccabi GB, social and faith impact company Cohesion Chemistry and the Enfield Multi Faith Forum, brought together local community schools from Barnet, Hertsmere, Enfield, Haringey and Brent, including Alma, Eden Primary, Hertsmere Jewish Primary School, Sacks Morasha, Nancy Reuben, Rosh Pinah, Sinai and Wolfson Hillel.

Wolfson Hillel were proclaimed runners up in the tournament, which aimed to provide young people with an opportunity to enjoy competitive sport in an inclusive and positive environment, while also strengthening connections between schools and communities.

Andrew Gilbert of Cohesion Chemistry said: “It has been fantastic to see so many young people come together through sport in such a positive environment. Maccabi GB have once again demonstrated their outstanding skillset, reach and ability to deliver meaningful community engagement programmes.”

Philip Rudling, head of programmes at the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation said: “We were delighted to host and run this tournament with Maccabi GB at the club’s fantastic training facility in Enfield. It’s always great to engage our local communities and give children an opportunity to play on world class pitches – some of the group also met (Welsh footballer) Ben Davies on the day; that made the occasion even better.”

Ian Aarons, Maccabi GB trustee added: “This afternoon’s tournament was a fantastic example of Maccabi GB running activities for our Jewish schools and the wider community, it was great to bring together Jewish children of all sporting abilities and from a wide range of different schools and present them the opportunity to play at such a fantastic venue.”
