Maccabi Tel Aviv to face Chelsea in Champions League
Maccabi Tel Aviv will face Chelsea having been drawn against them in the group stage of this season’s Champions League.
The Israeli champions booked their place in the group stage of the competition for just the second time in their history by overcoming Swiss side FC Basel in the play-off stage, and in Thursday afternoon’s draw were pitted in Group G alongside Chelsea, Porto and Dynamo Kiev.
The top two sides will qualify for the knock-out stage of the tournament, while the third-place side will drop down into the Europa League. The first round of matches is scheduled for 15/16 September.
