Maccabi Tel Aviv off to a winning start
Israeli champions Maccabi Tel Aviv got their Champions League campaign off to a winning start as a goal from Rade Prica saw them beat Santa Coloma 1-0.
The second qualifying round first leg tie was taking place in Andorra, due to the current situation in Israel, and the match was decided by a 64th minute strike, which saw Óscar Garcia’s get his reign as Maccabi manager off to a winning start.
The second leg is due to take place at Maccabi’s Bloomfield stadium in Tel-Aviv next Tuesday, though UEFA has already requested they arrange an alternative venue should they rule Israel unsafe to host the match, with Cyprus being offered as a likely alternative.
