Manchester father dies in a paragliding accident in the Swiss Alps
Avrohom Moshe Rabinowitz was a member of Manchester's Charedi community
A young Charedi man from Manchester has been killed in a paragliding accident in the Swiss Alps.
Avrohom Moshe Rabinowitz, a 30 year-old father, went missing during a family holiday in Switzerland.
Local authorities responded to the accident report with an extensive search of the area lasting several hours, locating his parachute and later his body on Wednesday.
The Israeli consul in the Swiss city of Bern has been in contact with Rabinowitz’s family to provide support following the accident.
Rabinowitz was born in Israel to mother Rivka and father Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef Dov Rabinowitz, and studied at the Kamenetz yeshiva in Jerusalem before later establishing roots in Manchester.
He was the grandson of the Biala-Lugano Rebbe, Rabbi Bezalel Simcha Rabinowicz, who is the senior rabbi of the European Board of Torah Scholars.
He is survived by his wife and infant son. The tragedy occurred days before Rabinowitz’s sister was due to be wed in Jerusalem.
