Masters team find Israel tour tough going
GB delegation face stern opposition in League's ninth tour.
GB’s Maccabi Masters’ two teams found tough opposition as they lost both matches against Israel’s over 45s Maccabiah 2017 team and Ashdod.
The teams then played two further matches against one another, with Maccabi Sharks beating Maccabi Jets twice, coming from 2-0 down to win 3-2 in the first match and 5-2 in the second. Both matches were officiated by Maccabi referee Steve Levy.
The teams scored 14 goals in all with top scorer Phil Mayer getting four, Malcolm Joseph, John Holman and David Pollock netting three each, with Geoff Isaacs also getting on the scoresheet.
Tour organiser Stuart Lustigman, who headed the 44-party delegation, said: “I’m delighted that this tour has been just as successful as the previous eight and I’m sure that everyone feels that much closer to the Jewish State through visits to various institutions.”
