Maureen Lipman and Tracy-Ann Oberman to help BBYO mark 80th birthday
Virtual event will combine entertainment from famous alumni, a fundraiser to secure the movement's future and a project to recall decades of Jewish youth engagement
Maureen Lipman and Tracey-Ann Oberman will help Jewish youth group BBYO celebrate its 80th birthday this weekend during the largest gathering in its history.
The virtual event will combine entertainment from famous alumni, and the opportunity for teens on its national executive to grill its former president, and current cabinet minister Grant Schapps.
Media partnered by Jewish News, the free gathering will hope to raise £100,000 to secure the BBYO UK and Ireland’s future, while an ’80 stories for 80 years’ project will give past participants to reflect on their time in the movement.
Lord Morris of Kenwood, BBYO Director said: “This will be a fabulous and unique event to commemorate 80 years of BBYO in the UK & Ireland. BBYO gave so much to my boys and now I’m proud and honoured to be able to give back to this amazing organisation.”
Ethan Katz, BBYO National President said: “I can’t wait to be a part of this amazing event, which brings together so many fantastic people from BBYO’s past, present and future. It’s incredible to speak to BBYO alumni who attribute so much of their success in later life to what they learned at BBYO, and how fondly they remember their time in the movement.”
The programme will feature TV producer Nicola Shindler and composer Murray Gold.
