McAfee buys Israeli privacy app from MineOS in strategic expansion
The cyber security giant expands its personal data protection offering while MineOS shifts focus to enterprise AI privacy
Cyber-security powerhouse McAfee has acquired the consumer privacy application of Israeli startup MineOS in a move that signals the company’s renewed push into personal data protection.
The SayMine app, developed by MineOS, helps users locate their personal data online, understand who holds it, and request its deletion. It will now be incorporated into McAfee’s global identity and privacy protection offering.
The deal marks McAfee’s first acquisition of Israeli technology in more than a decade, approximately four years after the company closed its local operations in Israel.
MineOS was founded in Israel in 2019 by Kobi Nissan, Gal Golan and Gal Ringel, initially as a consumer-privacy startup. It has since evolved into an enterprise privacy platform serving major global clients, including Wiz, HelloFresh, Selfridges and Ford.
The company builds AI-powered tools that help organisations manage privacy, compliance and AI governance through automation, replacing traditionally manual processes such as data mapping, data subject requests (DSRs), consent management and vendor risk assessments.
Kobi Nissan, CEO of MineOS, said: “This is an exciting next chapter for consumer privacy, as our solution helped redefine what personal data control could and should look like,” adding that “the move allows us to focus entirely on our enterprise mission – transforming how organisations manage privacy, risk and AI governance through intelligent automation. By embedding AI agents and advancing toward autonomous operations, we’re helping privacy leaders elevate their impact and focus on what truly matters.”
MineOS said the sale of its consumer unit will allow it to redirect all efforts toward its AI-powered autonomous privacy platform for organisations.
“Following the sale, the company will focus entirely on expanding its autonomous platform that enables organisations to manage privacy, risk, and AI governance with greater speed and intelligence,” the company said in a statement.
MineOS company intends to channel the proceeds of the deal – reportedly in the tens of millions of dollars – into accelerating product innovation and expanding its AI and automation capabilities.
McAfee, meanwhile, will integrate the SayMine technology into its global ecosystem of consumer security and privacy tools, strengthening its position in the rapidly growing personal data protection market.
With bases in Tel Aviv and Boston, MineOS’s acquisition highlights the continued global influence of Israeli privacy and cyber-security innovation.
In a LinkedIn post, the company described the deal as a “big milestone at MineOS today, and a major step toward the future of privacy.”
As data volumes explode and global regulation tightens, the transaction underscores the rising value of privacy technologies for both individual consumers and large enterprises navigating an era of AI-driven risk and compliance.
