Memorial for Operation Piggy Back inspiration, Barkai Shor
The father of an Israeli soldier killed on the Gaza border during hostilities this summer has told how his son’s friends initiated an online campaign in his memory which involves a “competition” to do good deeds.
Barkai Shor, who was 21 when he died near Kibbutz Nahal Ozon in July, is the inspiration behind ‘Operation Piggy Back,’ which has gained 7,000 commitments.
Speaking at an MDA fundraising dinner, his father Yaron wryly said Barkai was a “bad liar,” volunteering with the Israeli ambulance service when he should have been studying.
