Million dollar fund for UK-Israel clean growth projects launched
Wohl Legacy initiative looks to support schemes which promote sustainable change with grants of up to £20,000
A new million dollar fund for UK-Israel collaborations over clean growth initiatives has been launched by the Wohl Legacy, a charity supporting sustainable change.
The Whol Clean Growth Alliance, which is set to last at least three years, is launching with a call for proposals in areas linked to food, water and energy, with grants of up to £20,000 for the joint-projects.
The initiative, managed by the British Council together with the UK Science and Innovation Network in the British Embassy in Israel, alongside the Israeli Ministry of Science and Technology as a partner, aims to help form, maintain, enlarge and promote research collaborations between the UK and Israel in clean growth.
Mr. Neil Wigan, UK Ambassador to Israel and chair of the Steering Committee of the Wohl Alliance, said: “Clean growth is one of the pillars of the UK industrial strategy and is essential to ensure continued prosperity whilst tackling climate change.
“Improving and building lasting collaborations in clean growth initiatives will guarantee increased impact of this research, vital in tackling climate change and ensuring our joint sustainable future.”
Prof David Latchman, chair of the Wohl Legacy, said: “The best research happens when people can cooperate freely across borders, and now, in these unprecedented and challenging times of a global pandemic, such collaborations are more critical than ever – for our future and for the generations to come.
“Both the UK and Israel are scientific superpowers who lead in research in clean growth fields, from agritech to water management and energy storage”.
