Minister Robert Halfon ‘ashamed’ of affair
A senior minister has said he is “ashamed” after having an affair with a young Tory campaigner.
Minister without portfolio Robert Halfon, 46, said he was “not proud of myself” after the relationship with the younger woman.
Deputy Conservative Party chairman Mr Halfon, who has a long-term partner but is not married, ended the affair in May, the Daily Telegraph reported.
In a statement the Jewish MP, whose grandfather was forced to flee Libya, said: “What I did was wrong, and I feel ashamed. I am not proud of myself. The most important thing to me is to continue to repair my relationship with my partner.”
