More than 50 Imperial students from 30 different countries visit Israel

Dozens of non-Jewish students from Imperial College London have been hosted by Britain’s Ambassador to Israel David Quarrey during a week-long visit to the Jewish state.
The student group, which is set to return on Sunday 31 March, comprises 52 mostly non-Jewish students from 30 different countries, including Sudan and Saudi Arabia.
On Monday evening it was Ferrero Rocher on the menu, as the students were invited to the British Ambassador’s residency for a discussion about British-Israeli cooperation in the field of science.
Imperial’s Israel Society president Léon Wiederkehr, who organised the Israel Tech Trip 2019, said the week-long visit is subsidised, keeping the cost below £400 per person.
“Our priority is to educate and introduce Imperial students to the start-up nation through educational and career-guiding opportunities,” he said.
“This trip forms part of the gateway to the 10-week summer internship programme in Israel that we also organise, which offers placements with the likes of the Technion, EDF Energy, and a wide variety of up-and-coming start-ups.”
