National ‘Thank You Day’ for The Queen’s 70 years’ service

Actress Tracy-Ann Oberman has joined faith leaders in promoting a “national thank you day” for The Queen’s 70 years’ service in her Jubilee year.
Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis, Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, the Muslim Council of Britain, and City Sikhs all called for millions to take part in a big ‘Thank You Day’ on Sunday 5 June, in what they hope will help communal bridge-building.
The initiative was launched this week at Alyth Synagogue, in partnership with Aleppo Supper Club, with the synagogue hosting Iftar for Muslim neighbours at a multi-faith event on Tuesday.
Welby urged people to show their support for the ‘Thank You Day’ across faith divides “by sharing food with each other, by getting together with another community in your area, or simply by thanking someone who has made a difference”.
Rabbi Hannah Kingston of Alyth Synagogue said: “After two years spent studying behind computer screens, we are thrilled to opening our doors once again to our Muslim neighbours so that we can host them for an Iftar meal.
“We believe in the importance of the relationships we build and are excited, for the ninth year in a row, to welcome members of other faith communities into our sanctuary to continue to build bridges of understanding.”
