JK Rowling agent takes the helm at British Friends of United Hatzalah
Neil Blair will take over as the head of the board when current chairman David Metzger steps down next month.
JK Rowling’s agent Neil Blair has been announced as the new chairman of the British Friends of United Hatzalah.
The businessman, who was first introduced to Israeli medical charity three years ago, will take over as the head of the board when current chairman David Metzger steps down next month.
Blair said he was proud to play a role in the organisation.
“United Hatzalah of Israel’s mission is truly inspiring and its ability to provide emergency medical support in under three minutes across Israel truly does save lives,” he said this week.
“Its inclusive approach to lifesaving is inspiring and I am proud to play a role in ensuring that it can continue to serve all of those who need its help.
“It really is the embodiment of Tikkun Olam.”
The appointment was welcomed by Eli Beer, the founder of United Hatzalah of Israel: ““Neil’s long history of leadership and extensive experience in both the commercial world and the not-for-profit sector make him an ideal person to act as our Board Chairman.
“He has an exceptional passion and understanding of our organisation and I know there will be many lives saved in Israel and beyond in the coming years with his support.”
Blair is well-known as the agent of Harry Potter author JK Rowling, but was also Head of Business Affairs for Warner Bros in Europe, working on productions including Band of Brothers and Eyes Wide Shut.
He was also an executive producer for the BBC’s adaption of another JK Rowling novel, The Casual Vacancy, and the subsequent Strike series.
