New boys shine at table tennis champs
Sunday’s National Shul Table Tennis League Championships proved to be a winning day for debutants as three of the four events were won by new entrees.
Wembley Sephardi (pictured), were crowned junior champions, while Norrice Lea 2nd, comprising of Jacob Zakaim, Benjy Callman and Sonny Gayer, secured the Junior Consolation title.
New boys Redbridge, featuring Michael and Simon Feingold, Scott Wigul, Ben Abrahams and Simon Bitton, beat Muswell Hill in the Senior Consolation Final.
However, Mill Hill – consisting of Dov Katz, Leslie Samuels and Len Siskind – won the Senior title for a third consecutive year.
NSTTL’s Adam Black said: “Players from 21 Shul teams competed and over half of them were new. There’s a wave of enthusiasm for table tennis in the Jewish community and it’s getting bigger and bigger. Jewish table tennis is going places.”
