Reform elects Robert Weiner as new chair
A member of Alyth Synagogue has been elected to Chair the Movement for Reform Judaism.
Robert Weiner, who became chair of North Western reform shul in 2010 and was elected to the Board of MRJ in June 2012, succeeds Jenny Pizer. Weiner – who runs a consultancy business supporting schools and assisting companies in launching services in the UK – said in reference to the Ethics of the Fathers, saying: “We will prioritise and finish that work which we can, whilst not desisting from the work that we know will not be finished during our term of office”.
Gary Copitch, of Cheshire Reform Congregation, was elected as vice-chair. The chief executive of People’s Voice Media has been a Movement board member since 2011.
West London Synagogue President Stephen Moss paid tribute to outgoing Chair Jenny Pizer, noting her contribution over eight years as chair and as a Board member.
