Orthodox school graded ‘good’ by Ofsted after poor run
Hackney-based Lubavitch Senior Girls' ended a series' of poor inspection results with some good news.
A strictly-Orthodox girls’ school in Stamford Hill has broken a run of poor inspection results in the community, after it was graded ‘Good’ by Ofsted.
Hackney-based Lubavitch Senior Girls’ School made strides after being told it required improvement in 2013, with inspectors noting a “tolerance and respect for other faiths”.
The headteacher, Mrs Helen Freeman, received particular praise for her “determination and vision to tackle the areas of weakness”.
In their report, published this week, inspectors picked out pupils’ multi-faith learning, saying: “There is an explicit focus on tolerance and respect for both the school community and for those of other faiths and cultures.”
The improvement comes after the school blended secular studies with its Kodesh (Religious) syllabus, with “significant parts of the national curriculum delivered through Jewish studies” which inspectors said had been “carefully mapped out by the school”.
Freeman praised the staff and pupils, adding: “Our school is a credit to our community.”
