‘Outstanding’ Norwood home ranked in top 1 percent in the country
A Jewish care home run by Norwood has joined an elite group with an outstanding-ranking for adult social care.
Based in Stanmore, the home in 30 Old Church Lane was given the outstanding rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), making it one of only 60 services in the country to be in the top 1 percent.
Housing eight people with learning disabilities, following an unannounced inspection in November, the CQC inspectors praised the staff there for “using innovative strategies to help people with gaining independence skills and supporting people to achieve their full potential.”
The report also commended ‘very caring’ service: “Relatives told us that staff were enthusiastic and well-motivated. They treated people with compassion and kindness.
It adds, “people were encouraged to be pas independent as possible, with the support from staff by focusing on learning a wide range of new independent living skills.”
Kaila, who lives at 30 Old Church Lane said: “I like it very much here, the staff support me when I ask to do something and help me plan it. I am very happy here”
The manager of the home, Peter Behan said he “extremely proud of this hard-earned accolade.

Norwood Chief Executive Elaine Kerr said: “An Outstanding CQC rating is an accolade that is richly deserved by Peter and his team. The report clearly reflects on the high quality services that Norwood provides.”
