Protest held at London Airbnb office over de-listing of settlement properties
Demonstrators gathered outside the company’s Compton Street office while activists circulated mock-up marketing material
A demonstration was held outside the London office of home accommodation rental company Airbnb on Wednesday, in protest at its decision to de-list properties in West Bank settlements.
Last week the US-based company said it would no longer host about 200 rental properties after it was criticised in a human rights report for “facilitating” the occupation by making settlements profitable.
Organisers behind the protest outside the company’s Compton Street office circulated mock-up marketing material under the banner: “Airbnb for everyone – except Jews in Judea and Samaria.”
Settlers have accused the company of “outrageous discrimination” and launched lawsuits, but campaigners say renting settlement properties is done “under conditions of inherent discrimination… Israelis and foreigners may pay to stay, but Palestinians may not”.
