Rabbi Shlomo Levin launches new ‘Thought for the Week’ podcast
South Hampstead synagogue's leader hopes 52 episodes will help communicate Judaism as the universal language for all
Rabbi Shlomo Levin, emeritus rabbi of South Hampstead Synagogue, is launching a ‘Thought for the Week’ series in video, audio and print format for the Jewish and wider public, drawing on the Judaic values that are among those that underpin Western society.
In short, 4-5 minute weekly episodes aimed at people of all faiths and none, Rabbi Levin turns to a mixture of personal experiences and current news items to find universal messages that enhance the quality of our lives and our roles as citizens of this country.
The series, including featured entitled “What Money Can’t Buy” and “New Beginnings are Harder” is professionally produced, the cost of production having been covered by a small group of supporters.
Rabbi Levin said: “During my years as a pulpit rabbi, non-Jewish visitors would often tell me that the ideas we spoke of in sermons resonated with them. While Judaism speaks to Jews, it also is a universal language. It is the universal language that I hope to communicate in this series.”
The series is available in video and audio format on Youtube and all major podcast platforms. Current and previous episodes are available for free in both video and print format on Substack.
The first episode of series will be published on Sunday 5th July at 6pm and weekly episodes will be published each Sunday thereafter.
Rabbi Levin was awarded an MBE in 2023 for his services to the Jewish community and interfaith relations.
