A key member of Reform UK’s campaign team in Thursday’s Gorton and Denton by-election has confirmed his suspension from the party over racist and antisemitic comments made on social media.

Jewish News exclusively revealed that interim campaign manager Adam Mitula was suspended in a report on February 19th, after historic social media posts surfaced—including one where he appeared to agree with a Holocaust denier who claimed the number of Jewish people murdered by the Nazis had been exaggerated.

Mitula, Reform UK’s interim campaign manager in Tameside, has been described as a key figure in Goodwin’s campaign for the Gorton and Denton seat and was photographed alongside the GB News presenter.

For several days, Reform UK declined to comment on the suspension, despite multiple communal sources confirming the move to Jewish News.

However, Mitula has now confirmed his suspension as a Reform UK member, pending an investigation.

He said: “The comments in question were taken out of context, and actually defended the Jewish community.”

Mitula also stated he had “no comment” about the racial slur he used in reference to Black people.

He said:“The original article was published by the Manchester Mill, known for spreading misinformation and aligned with political opposition.

“My solicitor is contacting them and anyone else spreading false info that damages my reputation.”

Reform UK said: “With regard to Adam Mitula, our disciplinary process is confidential and we do not provide a running commentary on any potential cases that are being considered.”

Manchester news outlet The Mill reported that Mitula participated in an online discussion in July 2024 about Holocaust death tolls, where he asserted that six million Poles, including “some Jews,” were murdered.

He responded to a post by former UFC fighter Jake Shields—who has a history of antisemitic statements—claiming the Holocaust death toll was “made up.” Mitula added, “They always use Poles to make up the number. And on top of it they claim Poles were killing. Just sick.”

In another post from the same month, Mitula wrote that he would “never touch a Jewish woman.”

Judith Prinsley, Acting Vice President of the Board of Deputies, welcomed Mitula’s suspension.

She said: “Reform UK was right to suspend this campaign worker following the serious allegations of his misogyny and antisemitism. We will continue to demand that parties across the political spectrum take firm action to root out this hatred.”
