Revealed: The app that sees the world through Jewish eyes
A New York State technology company has developed a Jewish app for Google’s ‘wearable computer.’
JewGlass was being hailed as the first of many Jewish applications for GoogleGlass, a device worn like glasses that pushes data directly into the users line of vision. Users then control the visual display of information with hand gestures and voice commands.
The makers of JewGlass – RustyBrick Inc – say the app will deliver customised Jewish information such as sunset times, directions to nearby synagogues and Hebrew translations.
It will also provide information related to Jewish learning, such as the Torah portion of the week or the day’s Daf Yomi, and detect nearby kosher restaurants.
“We’ve helped change how the Jewish world uses technology to improve and aid their daily Jewish lives,” said a company statement. “This is just a glimpse into the potential of wearing technology and how it can impact Jewish life.”
