Richman & Green step down as Raiders managers
Duo announce they're leaving the double winners.
Rob Richman and Jonathan Green have announced they’re leaving as managers of North London Raiders A, with former Real Sosobad boss Daniel Shafron replacing them.
The pair led the side to two consecutive league & cup doubles, with Richman saying: “It’s a massive wrench to step down, I’ve managed the side for near 10 seasons and have enjoyed every season immensely. Throughout my time we’ve tried to play the game in the right way both on and off the pitch and we’ve always tried to be a credit to the great league we play in. As sad as I am about stepping down I know it’s the right time, we’ve achieved more than I ever could imagine and I can’t thank the players who represent this brilliant club enough.
“The time is right to hand over to Dan. He takes over a team who have been the standout side for the past two years. I fully believe Dan will fit in perfectly with the Raiders way and will brilliantly take the team onwards and upwards. Dan is massively enthusiastic about next season and I know we are in safe hands with him taking over.”
Green said: “It’s been an absolute privilege to manage this group of boys for the last two years and it’s no lie to say that every single Wednesday evening and Sunday morning has been enjoyable.
“We have enjoyed unprecedented success over this time but both Rob and I feel like it’s the perfect time for Dan to take over. We are both of the opinion that it is a great appointment and have no doubt that he will lead the team to more continued success and to remain as the dominant team in Jewish football.”
Shafron said: “It’s a huge honour to be asked to be the next manager of North London Raiders A and I’m delighted that Rob and Greeny saw me as the right person for the job. I have the greatest respect for everything they have done; to be double winners two seasons in a row is historic and a massive achievement. Their boots are big ones to fill!
“This squad is undoubtedly the best in Jewish football. The commitment of the boys, work ethic and desire to win was a huge factor in my decision to join and I’m looking forward to getting started and meeting up with the current group. We have a small list of transfer targets that we will work on over the summer in order to continually improve and take this team onwards and upwards.
“Hard work begins now to defend our titles. Our aim will be to win every competition we enter next season. It is very possible and I know it will be a huge challenge but one that I am very excited to take on.
“I had two great years with Real Sosobad and this is now a perfect next step. I have a lot of good memories with them and I know that they have what it takes to compete at the top of their division next season.”
