Robert Peston ‘ashamed’ to be an Arsenal fan after supporters chant anti-Semitic song
ITV presenter attacks "moron gooners" who sang chant ahead of Sunday's Carabao Cup final
Robert Peston said he felt “ashamed” to be an Arsenal supporter after hearing fellow fans sing an anti-Semitic song ahead of Sunday’s Carabao Cup final.
The Peston on Sunday host took to Twitter to express his shock and outrage at the supporters who made the chant on their way to the game at Wembley.
He tweeted: “One of those moments when I am ashamed to be Arsenal supporter on way to Wembley because moron gooners singing anti-Semitic song about how they have foreskins & Spurs fans don’t. Well many of us truer supporters are circumcised as is their/our hero Ozil (I assume). Shut the f up.”
The founder of the education charity, Speakers for Schools and current Political Editor of ITV News, he added: “Afternoon started with me feeling racially abused by alleged fellow supporters. It continued with my beloved team capitulating in most spineless way.”

Action Against Discrimination, a charity set up to combat racism in football, has called on Arsenal Football Club and the police to investigate.
Its chairman Jonathan Metliss said: “This [anti-Semitism in football] is an ongoing issue and offenders must be brought to justice and charged accordingly.
“It is ironic that this chanting takes place even when Tottenham Hotspur are not playing and is similar to the anti-Semitic chanting heard at Watford during the recent Chelsea match. It has to be dealt with.”
